To help ensure your Testosterone Panel results are as accurate and useful as possible, please follow these preparation guidelines before your lab visit:
- Schedule your blood draw in the morning, preferably before 10 AM, as hormone levels can change throughout the day.
- Fast for 10–12 hours before your appointment. Water is okay and encouraged.
- During your fast, avoid food, coffee, tea, caloric drinks, and gum.
- Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your blood draw.
- Avoid caffeine during your fasting period and nicotine on the day of your blood draw.
- If you take biotin-containing supplements, avoid them for 72 hours before your appointment, as biotin can interfere with certain lab results.
- Do not stop prescription medications or other supplements unless your clinician specifically instructs you to do so.
- The day before your test, stay well hydrated and avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours before testing.
- For men, avoid ejaculation and prolonged cycling for 24–48 hours before testing, as these may temporarily affect PSA results.
- If you are sick, especially with a fever, infection, or significant acute illness, please reschedule your appointment once you are feeling well, as illness can temporarily affect certain lab results.
- If you have a history of fainting or becoming lightheaded during blood draws, please let the Quest staff know before your blood is collected.
Your appointment details and additional instructions will also be sent to your email after your appointment is confirmed.
